Cancellation and discontinuation

Cancellation of the race in 2024, and discontinuation of the Troll ski marathon

The Lillehammer Troll ski marathon was first organized in 1994, so the race has a long history

many good skiing experiences to look back on. The race has been organized by Ringebu - Fåvang ski club i

collaboration with Øyer-Tretten IF - skiing, Mesnali ski team and Søre Ål IL - cross-country skiing. The organizing clubs have now decided to cancel the race in 2024, and cancel the Troll ski marathon. There are several reasons for this.

A touring ski race with a start and finish at different locations is more demanding to arrange than a touring race with more compact trail track, where you can, for example, use the same food station several times. In addition to a

a touring ski race in mountainous terrain, where parts of the trail are exposed to the weather, have significant transport needs, greater need for prepping.

Such a long tour race, with i.a. 14 serviced food stations teaching and food service at the finish line,

requires a great deal of dedication. Over time, the organizing clubs have seen a development where the financial

the result is not commensurate with the work effort required to complete the race. For the organizing clubs, it has been a clear strength that the race has had a good and stable race committee led by

Turid Elise Kaus. It is a significant effort that they have put in over several years to carry out

ran.
